You can think of South Face as its own little ski mountain that happens to be attached to Okemo. By itself, it's bigger than many ski areas.
It tends to be quieter than the other areas, possibly because you can't start there unless you own are renting a place in Southface village. There's no parking or drop-off area. It can only be accessed from the other areas via Catnap or the Glades Peak Quad (when running).
Once you get there, you'll find far fewer lines and crowds. There's a good variety of trail difficulties here, but only one easy trail from the top and some parts of it are definitely blue.
The only restrooms available are a couple portable toilets near the South Face Express Quad loading area. There are no services at the bottom of the Sunshine Quad except for the occasional food truck.
South Face opened in 1994 with the upper section. In 2015, the Sunshine Quad was added, providing access from the newly-built Southface village. The village continues to expand with condos and larger homes. More trails are planned to provide more ski-in/ski-out options for the ongoing development there.
